National Library "St. St. Cyril and Methodius"
The National Library of Bulgaria was established on 10.12.1878 as the Sofia Public Library, and soon after (on 05.06.1879), it received the status of a state institution under the name Bulgarian National Library, being called upon to collect, store and distribute the literary memory of the Bulgarian nation. Today it is the largest library in Bulgaria with a fund of over 8 million documents and is an established information, research, educational and cultural center preserving the literary memory of the country.
