On June 22 and 23, 2023, starting at 9:30 a.m., an international scientific conference on "Possible and Impossible Stories of Bulgarian Literature" will be held in the American Center Hall of the Sofia City Library.
Scholars from the Institute of Literature at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, Sofia University St. Kliment Ohridski, New Bulgarian University, South-West University Neofit Rilski, Veliko Tarnovo University St. Cyril and St. Methodius, the Institute of Slavic Studies at the Polish Academy of Sciences, the Institute of Slavic Philology at Jagiellonian University, and INALCO in Paris.
The aim of the conference is to reconstruct the history of Bulgarian literature published in the 19th–21st centuries in terms of how it has been read, interpreted, and evaluated in different sociocultural contexts. The theme of the scientific forum is prompted by the problem of rethinking traditional literary historiography, raised at the end of the last century, and attempts to create a new theoretical model for writing literary history in the era of globalism. In the context of the theme of literary histories, attention is also drawn to the changes that are inevitably imposed by today's open information space.
