On May 24, 2021, the Cyril and Methodius Scientific Center at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences will open an exhibition in Warsaw, Poland, in front of the Embassy of the Republic of Bulgaria, entitled "The Path of St. Cyril and Methodius and Their Disciples."
The Thessalonian brothers are a millennial symbol of spirituality, whose cult has been professed in different ways, in different eras, by different peoples as part of their efforts for independence and recognition. Today, it is not only an instrument for supporting national identity, but also a symbol of rapprochement and the sharing of European values, both within Europe and beyond. The posters in the exhibition mark only some of the turning points in the work of the First Teachers and their followers, as well as places symbolic of their memory – as we know them from historical sources about their work and from the evidence of the Cyril and Methodius tradition accumulated over time. Significant monuments of Slavic literature, religious centers, and works of art are displayed. All this has enormous potential to explain the cultural heritage of Cyril and Methodius as a common phenomenon of European significance, inspiring religious tolerance, intellectual equality, and understanding of European cultural history and identity.
The exhibition was created within the framework of the KINNOPR National Project and the Cyril and Methodius Project - a virtual cluster at the Heritage BG Cultural Center. Its first presentation is being held with the support of the Bulgarian Embassy and the Bulgarian Cultural Institute in Warsaw. Its opening, attended by the ambassadors of the Republic of Bulgaria, the Republic of North Macedonia, and the head of the Polish Orthodox Church, Metropolitan Sava, will be accompanied by a concert of Orthodox chants and a presentation of Prof. Slavia Burlieva's book "Cyril and Methodius Motifs in Latin and Greek Literature," published by the KMNC in 2021.
