
On June 10, 2021, at the Historical Museum - Samokov the results of a completed study on "Assessment of the socio-economic impact of activities aimed at preserving cultural heritage sites: the case of the historical complex in the village of Belchin (ethnographic museum, St. Petka Church, and the late antique fortress Tsari Mali Grad)."
The event was attended by representatives of the cultural and business community in Samokov.
Prof. Zhelyu Vladimirov, PhD in Economics, presented an economic model for how to "sell" historical heritage, with a fascinating presentation on the case of Tsari Mali Grad.
"A balance must be sought between authenticity, usefulness, nature, purity, history, attraction, and... of course, accessibility.(...) The new paradigm is that cultural heritage should be of benefit to people." The presentation was followed by a discussion on the topic of "How to sell historical heritage?"
