March 22 ->>> WORLD WATER DAY
Today we celebrate World Water Day :) [Water - Elitsa Todorova, Stoyan Yankov // 2007]
On March 22, the whole world celebrates this day. The initiative aims to draw public attention to the importance of this resource and the challenges of its conservation.
It was proposed as an international observance in 1992 during the United Nations Conference on Environment and Development (UNCED) held in Rio de Janeiro. In 1993, the United Nations General Assembly designated March 22 as the first World Water Day.
Each year, the day highlights a specific aspect of the issues related to this invaluable resource. The theme for 2020 is “Water and Climate Change.” According to the event’s organizers, policymakers must place water at the center of their action plans.
People need water to survive, as do all the systems we rely on: sanitation, healthcare, education, business, and industry.
Water is our most precious resource—we must use it more responsibly. We must balance all of society’s water needs while ensuring that everyone, even the poorest people, has access to it.
