Exhibition "Cinema Advertising in Bulgaria 1920-1940"

The exhibition "Cinema Advertising in Bulgaria 1920-1940" opened on November 25 at the House of Cinema, 37 Exarch Joseph Street, Sofia. 

More than 700 advertising cards and pages published in newspapers and magazines are presented in 26 posters (70 x 100 cm). 

They reveal the diverse approaches of distributors, cinema owners, and producers to promote their films and attract audiences to cinemas. Also included are advertisements for various film services, with a particular focus on campaigns by companies promoting sound systems in connection with the transition from silent to sound and talking films.

The exhibition was realized within the framework of the project of the Screen Arts Sector at the Institute for Art Studies – BAS "Cinema Culture, Arts and National Images in Bulgaria (KINO.BG). Formation of the public significance of film culture in the period between the two world wars" with state support under contract No. KP-06-N60/6 of 16.11.2021 with the Scientific Research Fund.
